Youth Leaders’ Training Event

Every once in while we are presented with a significant opportunity to enhance the way we serve the youth and children in our congregation and community. One such opportunity will be offered on October 29, 2007 from 10am - 4pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Bel Air: the Youth Leaders’ Training Event with Mark DeVries.

Mark DeVries is the founder of Youth Ministry Architects, author of Family Based Youth Ministry and Associate Pastor for Youth and their Families at the First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN. He is energetic and insightful. Liz Perruad, LOGOS Ministry staff person and High School Ministry Team Member of Christ Memorial PC in Columbia says this of Mark:

“I was so excited to learn that our presbytery is bringing Mark DeVries in to speak to youth ministry leaders! I have had the occasion to hear Mark twice and you won’t want to miss this! Clear your calendars, take a vacation day if you need to, hire a sitter for the kids if necessary…but, whatever you do, GO! He knows what he’s talking about and he says it in a way that is thoroughly engaging and inspiring. Bring a whole team from your church…anyone interested in ministry with our youth.”

I fully agree with Liz. I had the opportunity to attend a seminar led by Mark in April and could not wait for the chance to bring his zeal and expertise to the Presbytery of Baltimore. That time has arrived and I hope you will avail yourself of this opportunity. You will be so glad you did. Anyone who is concerned about the faith formation and spiritual formation of our children and youth will be enriched and inspired, and leave with a renewed sense of call to engage in ministry that relevant and transformative. To register for the event, either call or email me, jjohnson@baltimorepresbytery.org. I hope to see you there!
