Educator Positions

 

Director of Christian Education, part time position, 24 hours per week.

First Presbyterian Church of Howard County is a multicultural, mission driven church that values the diversity of all people. It has a membership of over 600 and currently has an active church school and youth program. The Director of Christian Education will support the church in planning, coordinating and resourcing educational activities that enhance the spiritual development and educational ministry of First Presbyterian Church.
 
Duties and responsibilities: coordinate Church School programs for children, youth and adults; organize special educational activities, such as Vacation Bible School; provide support for worship enrichment programs; and plan and provide teacher training and curriculum support for the church’s educational leaders.
 
Qualifications: a strong personal trust in Jesus Christ; a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education, or if another major, demonstrated teaching experience; a vision for Christian Education; and the ability to work effectively as a part of the ministry team.
 
Required skills: an understanding of a variety of educational philosophies, knowledge and ability to articulate various components of faith development and faith formation; the ability to develop and evaluate curriculum; computer literacy; and a willingness to work within the beliefs and practices of the PCUSA.
