Presbyterian Youth Triennium 2010 teenspyt

"For Such a Time as This!"

The Presbyterian Youth Triennium will soon be here!!!  All youth ages 15-19 are invited to attend this wonderful event from July 20-24, 2010 at Purdue University. Here are some details about the upcoming event.

What is the Triennium?

The Triennium is an event for youth that occurs every three years (thus the name) and is planned by youth and adult representatives from around the country.  It is a partnership event involving the PCUSA and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

What is the theme?

The Theme for this Triennium is “For Such a Time as This” from the Book of Esther and the Gospels.  Each day the theme will be explored in very exciting fashion through small groups, recreation, speakers, and other special events.

What will occur at the Triennium?

Youth will meet Presbyterian youth and adults from around the USA.  They will have their faith energized by the speakers and the drama team that will present the theme daily.  They will meet in a small group for about 10 hours over the course of the five days.  In addition, there will be fantastic recreation and the chance to learn more about who we are as the Presbyterian Church and service opportunities within the church.

What is the cost?

The Triennium will cost $409.  This covers the cost of registration, food at Purdue, a tee shirt, all of the speakers and recreation and housing.  Youth will be responsible for two meals out and two meals back.  The transportation will be provided by the Presbytery of Baltimore.  There is Scholarship money available.  Youth can apply for scholarships through the Registrar.

How do I get there?

If you are 15-19 and a member of a church in Baltimore Presbytery, as of July 20-24, you can be part of the Triennium delegation.  To do this, you will need to fill out the application form, be approved, and be ready to enjoy a great time. If you are over 19 and younger than 24, you can apply to be part of Work Crew.  These are the folks who help make Triennium possible.  You need to apply online through pcusa.org.  If you are 25 and older, you can be part of the delegation as an Adult Advisor or a Small Group Leader.  We will take some adults to act as chaperones/advisors for the Presbytery delegation.  In order to be considered, you will need to apply using the Presbytery’s form.  If you wish to be a Small Group Leader, you will need to apply online at pcusa.org.  The Small Group Leader will run a small group of 20-25 youth and adults.  The small groups are the bedrock of the Triennium experience.

Is there anything new?

You can also go as a church delegation.  You will need a church registrar and will register directly with the PCUSA.  You will need to send Adult Advisors with your group as well as arrange transportation.  For more information, contact the Triennium registrar at the PCUSA or our Presbytery’s registrar. (see below).

Who do I contact?

The Presbytery’s Registrar is Mark Sandell.  You can contact me at 301.223.8887 or marksandel@yahoo.com.  The address is on the application form.
