Ashland Presbyterian Church – $5,000
The church will use the funds to establish weekly childcare and provide curriculum materials to support children and families, with the eventual goal of creating a Sunday school. Ashland will continue partnering with local organizations for community events like tree planting, history presentations, and Christmas caroling, while hosting weekly hospitality gatherings.
First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis – $1,750
The church will strengthen LGBTQ+ support through the Anne Arundel Affirming Alliance by organizing events like the Annapolis PRIDE Worship service and celebrations such as “Outlove” and “Outjoy.” They will also expand resources for affirming faith communities via their dedicated website.
First Presbyterian Church of Cumberland – $9,500
The grant will support the Cumberland Community Café by funding food, supplies, and special events like bingo and open mic nights. The church will also launch initiatives like “take away” bags for families in need and build additional partnerships with local organizations and farmers.
First Presbyterian Church of Westminster – $8,000
The church will create sustainable community-building initiatives to foster inclusion for people with disabilities. Events will bring together disabled and non-disabled youth for collaboration and mutual support, while programs will equip congregations with tools and training to elevate individuals with disabilities as leaders.
Hope Presbyterian Church – $10,000
Hope will hire a community organizer to expand its outreach efforts. The organizer will manage community events, strengthen partnerships with schools, businesses, and community organizations, and enhance engagement through targeted social media outreach.
Knox Presbyterian Church – $10,000
The church will deepen its partnerships with community organizations, including Helping Hands Food Ministry, and host a Community Gathering and Resource Fair with neighboring New Bethlehem Baptist Church. Plans also include hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator or Intern to implement these initiatives.
Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church – $5,750
The funds will support start-up projects such as the Madison Community Garden, a Music and Arts Academy, and the Madison Community Eco Hub. The AFRI KIDZ CLUB will continue engaging youth and recruit adult neighbors to build an advocacy group and establish the Eco Hub.
