From the General Presbyter

It’s a shame really. They are so cool, and they are a great evangelism tool. But they just don’t stick well.
I was first introduced to the Jesus band aid at the 2024 General Assembly. One of the presbytery executives handed them out with the presbytery’s name on the back. I later bought some and gave a few to the staff. One time, I used one and after a half of a day, it was already coming off.
The Easter season is always celebratory and uplifting. Christ is Risen, Hallelujah. And then we turn on the news, or we go back to feeling anxious or low or frustrated about our church attendance or finances. The story about Jesus doesn’t seem to stick! In fact, many of us look forward to a joyous holiday so we don’t have to think about everything else that vexes us.
Now is not the time to lose your energy, friends. Our vigor and enthusiasm for the church cannot wane. I hear it all the time, “after Pentecost, we start losing people.” Vacations, yes, but slacking off, because there is nothing going on, please don’t! Our faith in Jesus needs to stick because we need Him (through the power of the incoming Holy Spirit) as we stand in the face of all that would compromise love, justice and peace. Jesus needs to be more than a band-aid. His living gospel is healing and inspiring and refreshing. We need it every day!
Keep it sticky!!
