Are you a Deacon who wants a refresher course? Join us for four evening events with conversation, learning, and collaboration on topics relevant to deacons’ call to service.

Topics and Dates
Home Visits Refresher: February 27th from 6:30-8pm
Pastor Michele Wallen will review the basics of a home visit with members of your community – including how to share home communion, reminders about mandatory reporting, and how to be supportive in a crisis.
Dementia Friendly Information Session: March 27th from 6:30-8:30pm.
Gordon Creamer, Program Manager at Well for the Journey, will bring us a Dementia Friendly information session. This session is a prerequisite for the Memory Care and Spiritual Belonging retreat later in the year.
Praying in Public: April 24th from 6:30-8pm
Deacons are often called on to pray in public – whether with someone in the hospital or at home, or during the prayers of the people. Rev. Sara Wilcox, a pastor and coach in Asheville, will lead us as we develop our public praying muscles.
Topics in Hospitality: May 22nd from 6:30-8pm
Deacons are called to service and hospitality. Join us as a panel tells stories about welcome in their contexts: queer welcome, neighborhood welcome, disability welcome, and hospitality for visitors.
