From the General Presbyter

“Who run the world? Girls!”
So much going on in our world right now. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the Democratic pick for Vice President, Senator Kamala Harris, for all the reasons that have been highlighted in the news: African American, South Indian American, woman, ambitious (yes!), experienced. And yes, even though I am a card-carrying Democrat, I remain proud of Condoleezza Rice, an accomplished pianist, former Secretary of State, diplomat, Republican, and African American woman. I am proud of our young women activists like Greta Thunberg and our senior superstars like Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I also found out that Thelma Adair, the first African American female moderator turns 100 years old this month!
I have the privilege of serving alongside another talented woman of faith in our PCUSA Mid Council group. She is Ruling Elder Lisa Allgood, Executive Presbyter for the Presbytery of Cincinnati. Lisa is a trained immunocytochemist, who reports regularly about COVID-19 and its impact. Some of our congregations are re-gathering, some even indoors. I would encourage you to watch her presentation to the Presbyterys of Boston and New England on YouTube. The last thing I want for any of you, is to get comfortable. This is not the time!
Whatever role you think women should play in life, I am certain that God expects women of all races, theological perspectives, and political affiliations to step into their greatness! Women of the Presbytery of Baltimore, that means you!
