From the General Presbyter
I just returned from Guatemala, visiting our partners at CEDEPCA (The Protestant Center for Pastoral Studies in Central America). It was a wonderful trip! I was inspired by the variety of initiatives that connect with this organization. We visited a migrant center, water purification filter plant, a school turned library, a paper printing business and a weaving center that empowers women. We also went to a women’s Bible study on health and wholeness followed by worship.

I left Guatemala with hope, something that has been in short supply for many of us lately. The news swirls hope down the drain into a toxic swamp. Division can cause collaboration to become precarious, and anxiety turns people apoplectic and fearful. Yet amid more corruption than we are seeing in the US, folks are stepping up, sometimes with only their gifts, talents and commitment.
Our partnership with CEDEPCA is brought to you by our partner churches, but also your Shared Ministry contributions. If you want more information, please contact Michele Wallen, our Associate for Community Engagement.
The work in Guatemala is not to be romanticized, but it is a testament to resilience and faithful witness that can encourage us to discover or rediscover our calling and passion for the work God has called us to do!
