From the General Presbyter
So excited about the Presbytery Gathering last Thursday. It was colorful and diverse and lively in its own right. I am humbled and grateful for the Presbytery’s confidence in my leadership and pledge to encourage, challenge and equip your congregations and support pastors and leaders on our journey!
As I write this, I am on my way to the beach for a few days. I will be looking at email, but probably won’t respond until I return. Why? Don’t get me wrong. I am a workaholic and can easily keep a 24/7 schedule, like many of your pastors. But I cannot give a speech at Presbytery and then not follow my own advice. So I am powering down.
This needs repeating, but pastors need time off. That includes a Sunday or more away from the pulpit or from the screen. One, it is in their terms of call and two, powering down allows one to regain energy and imagination, so needed for these strange days.
Stay tuned for interesting things coming out of the Presbytery office, including support to leaders, learning opportunities and maybe even some fellowship. All of this is good for the soul.
