A Pivotal Moment for the Reparative Justice Fund
The Presbytery of Baltimore is now seeking nominations and applications for the Incorporating Board of the Reparative Justice Fund (RJF) that is being established as a response to historical harms connected to slavery, systemic racism, and racial inequities in which the Presbytery participated or from which it benefited. The Presbytery covers a large portion of the State of Maryland, with the majority of the churches located in Baltimore City and the four surrounding counties, reaching out to Frostburg in the west, north to Street, and Annapolis in the Southeast. Board members will provide leadership, governance, and support for the RJF mission of justice, reconciliation, and restoration within our communities. A portion of the Board must be persons who are members of a Presbyterian church in the Presbytery of Baltimore or a minister serving one of these churches.
A Zoom information session will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.

We are looking for Board members who share a commitment to and passion for:
- Reparative Justice Principles – Demonstrated understanding of and dedication to equity, inclusion, accountability, diversity, healing, and community empowerment.
- Relevant Professional or Lived Experience – Experience in areas such as community advocacy, conflict resolution, legal or justice reform, nonprofit governance, or direct engagement with impacted communities.
- Collaborative Leadership – Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse stakeholders, including survivors, community members, and justice system partners.
- Strategic and Ethical Decision-Making – Capacity to evaluate funding priorities, assess impact, and uphold transparency and integrity in board decisions.
- Time and Participation – Willingness to attend regular meetings, participate in committee work, and contribute to strategic planning and fundraising efforts.
- Respect of Religious Faiths & Practices – honoring the origins of the RJF and those who seek God’s guidance in their decision making, while acknowledging that this work transcends the boundaries of any particular faith or affiliation.

The deadline for Board Applications is Friday, September 18, 2026.
The Reparative Justice Fund, will be incorporated as a charitable foundation, administered by Black leaders. The disbursement of funds will prioritize local impact in historically and majority Black congregations, neighborhoods,communities and nonprofit organizations within the geographic bounds of the Presbytery of Baltimore. At least 25% of the Fund has been set aside for repair to seven Black congregations of the Presbytery of Baltimore.
